Maryjane Unanka is a distinguished lawyer, social entrepreneur, and advocate for sustainable development, widely recognised as “The Catalyst for Social Change.” She is deeply committed to advancing social justice and empowering underprivileged children through sustainable and impactful initiatives.
Her remarkable contributions to society have earned her several notable recognitions. In November 2023, she was nominated for the Under 30 CEOs Award (Social Impact Category). In March 2024, she received the MWFAAN HER-EXCELLENCE Award in the Community Catalyst Category. In August 2024, she was honoured as an Africa Emerging Leader by the West African Leadership and Empowerment Centre in Ghana. In February 2025, she was recognised by Crest Africa as one of Africa’s Leading Women, and in April 2025, she received an award from the Imperial Leo Network in Ghana in recognition of her outstanding impact.
Maryjane is an Associate Member of Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ). She is also a graduate of the School of Politics, Policy and Governance (SPPG), where she earned a certificate in Public Leadership and Policy.
As a dedicated advocate for change, Maryjane’s vision extends beyond immediate relief; she is committed to the long-term empowerment and upliftment of children in need. Her initiatives are designed to provide sustainable solutions that address the core issues affecting these young lives. Through the Maryjane Sustainable Development Initiative (MSDI), she has established a platform that not only supports the growth of these children but also inspires and mobilizes others to join the cause.
Under her leadership, MSDI has become a light of hope, encouraging children to develop and achieve their ambitions. Her approach is holistic, taking into account all aspects of a child’s well-being, including education, health, emotional support, and skill development.
